Cost Draftsperson

Salary: Upto £50,000 dependent on experience

Location: Manchester, with 3/2 hybrid working pattern after probation

MERJE is seeking a highly skilled Cost Draftsperson to join a thriving in-house team at a leading law firm specialising in personal injury and clinical negligence claims. The Role

The Cost Draftsperson will support senior case handlers with drafting requirements, working in an assisting capacity. This position offers the potential for training contracts or support through ACL qualification for high-performing candidates.

Key Responsibilities of the Cost Draftsperson:

  • Drafting formal bills and supplementary documents for detailed assessment on fast track & multi-track cases
  • Preparing N260 statements of costs and risk assessments
  • Investigating disbursement liabilities and reviewing client ledgers
  • Preparing Precedent S and Q documents
  • Commencing Detailed Assessment proceedings on approved work

Required knowledge and experience for the Cost Draftsperson role:

  • 2 to 10 years' drafting experience in the claimant personal injury sector
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with Precedent H, R, and Q, and finalising formal bills in Multi Track and budgeted cases
  • Working knowledge of Civil Procedures Rules and Detailed Assessment process
  • Proficiency in Proclaim Case Management System and Costs Master software
