Financial Controller | Bury | £65,000 - £70,000 + Up to 30% Bonus | PE backed SME Axon Moore have partnered with a leading PE backed SME in Bury who have created a new role in their structure to add an ACA qualified Financial Controller, ideally a 2nd or 3rd time mover from audit.The business came under PE investment in 2021 and have since acquired 2 businesses, with plans to go through an exit in the next 2-3 years.This role requires a detail-oriented individual with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a high-growth, fast-changing environment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Oversee accurate and timely monthly management accounts, ensuring that financial data is correctly recorded and reported, providing a clear picture of the company's financial health
  • Manage a team of 3 direct reports, providing guidance and ensuring they contribute effectively to the team’s objectives
  • Conduct detailed profit and loss analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement. Your insights will help guide strategic decisions and improve business performance
  • Lead the annual audit process by preparing necessary documentation, reconciling accounts, and addressing auditor queries, ensuring a smooth and efficient audit
  • Assist departments and Head of Finance in producing the annual budget and forecasts
  • Check payroll, ensuring all adjustments are included
  • Accurately calculate and process commission payments, ensuring that all payments are made in accordance with the company's compensation structure and timelines
  • Ensure that VAT returns are completed accurately and submitted on time, complying with all relevant tax regulations and minimising any risk of penalties
  • Translate complex financial information into clear and concise reports that can be easily understood by non-financial managers, aiding them in making informed decisions
  • Participate in various ad-hoc projects, such as the development and improvement of finance business processes, ensuring that the finance function remains aligned with overall business objectives.
Ideal candidate:
  • ACA/ACCA Qualified with an audit background 
  • Ability to work in a high growth, fast paced environment 
  • You should be a strong team player, capable of collaborating with colleagues across departments and providing support to ensure team goals are achieved.
  • Financially numerate with strong Excel skills
