An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Reporting Accountant to join a leading global business services organisation. This role is based in Manchester and offers the chance to be part of an ongoing program of regular testing, ensuring that financial controls and procedures operate effectively across all group companies.

. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to recommend and implement improvements to such controls and reporting, as well as perform regular reviews of key balance sheet items reported in the monthly management accounts.

What you'll do:

As a Financial Reporting Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our financial systems. You will be responsible for testing the effectiveness of key financial controls across all subsidiaries, providing valuable insights into their operation. Your analytical skills will be put to good use as you report on your findings, highlight areas for improvement, and make recommendations for strengthening these controls. You will also assist with the review and testing of evidence to support key accounting estimates, as well as coordinate the preparation of annual statutory accounts.

  • Test the effectiveness of key financial controls and processes (including tax) and reporting across all subsidiaries throughout the financial year
  • Report and discuss findings, highlighting weaknesses and provide follow up recommendations and support to strengthen
  • Conduct follow up reviews to ensure recommendations have been implemented
  • Support the Reporting and Controls Manager with the review, development and maintenance of policy and procedures
  • Assist with the review and testing of evidence to support key accounting estimates
  • Test/review operational KPI data on a routine basis
  • Coordinate and support the preparation of the annual statutory accounts and external audit

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Financial Reporting Accountant role will bring a wealth of audit experience, either internal or external. You will have a proven track record in organising your workload effectively to meet strict deadlines. Your strong attention to detail coupled with excellent analytical skills will enable you to identify areas for improvement in our financial controls. Your solid knowledge of financial reporting procedures will be invaluable in dealing with complex technical accounting concepts. You should also be comfortable working on your own initiative and under pressure.

  • Prior experience of internal or external audit work
  • Ability to organise & prioritise your workload to meet strict deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
  • Solid knowledge of financial reporting procedures and ability to deal with complex technical accounting concepts
  • Ability to organise, manipulate, analyse, and present large volumes of data using Excel spreadsheets
  • Able to work on own initiative and under pressure
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
