Anthony Cole Associates are pleased to be partnering with a nationwide Property / Real Estate organisation that supply essential services to the country. Due to an internal promotion, they are looking to hire a commercially focused Management Accountant to join them asap on an initial 12m FTC. This will be a challenging but highly rewarding role that has a hybrid working arrangement and will be mainly REMOTE BASED, however the ability to travel to the client’s main offices in London / The Midlands / The North West or one of the 300 buildings located nationally 2 days a week is required.

The Management Accountant will be a member of the Management Accounts team reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, closely with the Financial Accounting Manager and Property Finance Managers to present internal reporting.

The role requires extensive use of excel, Oracle and Sage to enable interrogation of data and performing adjustments as required. Key responsibilities include production of monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and budget preparation. The post holder will liaise with internal and external customers as required, analyse Oracle/Sage to create meaningful and insightful information.

Key Accountabilities

Processing

  • Production and uploading of monthly standard journals (Corporate-wages, Bonus provision, sub debt interest, accruals and prepayments) (Property- deprecation, accruals, prepayments, management fees etc)
  • Income accruals including bookable space analysis, true up accruals and direct charges. Income prepayments.
  • Sub debt interest

Controls

  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Balance sheet control account reconciliations
  • Ensuring sufficient journal backup provided prior to approval

Reporting

  • Monthly board/SLT reporting including Commentary, P&L, BS, Cashflow forecasting, expenditure, Capital Projects
  • Monthly P&L preparation/review meetings with Property Managers/Corporate budget holders.
  • Cost Analysis reporting

Budget

  • Annual budget process and monthly/quarterly forecast preparation
  • Cashflow Forecasting (integrated cashflow model)
  • Maintenance of establishment list, business case and staff changes, liaising with HR

Other

  • Assisting with the internal audit
  • Assisting with treasury management

Communication

  • To respond to queries professionally and timely.
  • Communicating proactively within the finance team and the wider company as necessary.
  • Interacting with other departments as required resolving property accounting queries.
  • Interact with our internal and external customers.
  • Participate in finance and property team events as required (along with other team members).

Development

  • Participate in all aspects of continuous improvement to processes.
  • Develop and maintain a fit for purpose control environment.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the property and finance staff and customers (tenants and Commissioners).

Qualifications/Knowledge & Application:

Essential

  • Part-qualified accountant, with a minimum of 2 years’ relevant management accounting experience
  • Good financial analysis skills
  • Competent excel user (Pivot tables, v-lookups etc.)
  • Evidence of on-going continuous professional development.
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively and apply concentrated effort to deliver results on time.
  • High level numeracy and literacy.
  • Ability to pay rigorous attention to detail.
  • Able to readily understand new and complex subjects.
