Senior Accountant

Salary: 70,000 - 85,000 plus benefits

Location: Manchester

Duration: 8 months fixed term contract

Sellick Partnership has been engaged to recruit a Senior Accountant for an instantly recognisable business based in Manchester.

You will play a vital role in assisting with the production of the Group's consolidated results and report and accounts for the FY25 year end, together with managing the audit process and providing support to the business on ad hoc projects.

As a senior accountant, you will provide subject matter expertise on accounting standards and how to apply them across the business. You will make sure everything is completed on time and in line with the accounting requirements, and work with colleagues to quickly resolve any queries in your area.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work alongside the Group and Brand finance teams to produce the statutory consolidated Group results and annual report & accounts for the Group's FY25 year end. This will involve the preparation of the statutory consolidation model, together with supporting working files for accounts disclosures.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Oversight of the year end audit process and provision of information to external auditors in accordance with year end audit timetable.
  • Preparation of year end subsidiary accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical accounting papers and workings to support key judgements and estimates.
  • Work alongside internal teams to ensure financial processes are robust, efficient and operate effectively.
  • Provide ad hoc guidance to support the wider business.

The successful applicant will be a proactive, fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or ICAS) with experience in a similar role in preparing an IFRS compliant consolidation model on a statutory accounting basis, together with the supporting working files necessary to support the publication of Plc year end consolidated statutory accounts.

Previous experience in financial control or a financial accounting environment and of producing or auditing statutory accounts ideally for a Plc coupled with balance sheet control account reconciliation experience. Therefore you will have comprehensive and up to date knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and preparation of statutory accounts and supporting disclosures in line with those standards; experience of completing or reviewing complex balance sheet reconciliations, particularly inventory and debtors; experience of oversight of the audit process and co-ordinating the wider finance teams and business owners to deliver information to the auditors in line with agreed timetable.

Strong working knowledge of data manipulation using Excel with the ability to manage large quantities of data including Vlookups and pivot tables is essential.

You will have strong communicational skills as you will be the subject matter expert and will be asked to liaise with stakeholders of all levels, the ability to present information in a clear simplified way to both finance and non-finance colleagues, whilst maintaining their own work load. Focussed on delivering specific objectives, you will be proactive, adaptable, dynamic and self-motivated with a desire to find and deliver improvements.
