The Trainee Accountant has the primary objective of providing administrative support to the finance team. Duties include but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities and duties
- Assistance with purchasing and payable functions as needed
- Where appropriate, working with third party service providers
- Invoice posting and allocation
- Posting bank transactions and performing bank reconciliations
- Basic finance/ treasury administration
- Managing and recording accruals and prepayments
- Preparing and posting journals
- Reconcile purchase, sales and general ledger entries
- Prepare accounting schedules such as fixed asset registers
- Assist in preparing management reports and year-end accounts
- Assist in group wide finance development projects with different teams (e.g., property team, grants team);
- Data entry of prime records to trial balance stage and general maintenance of accounting records
- Assisting management with various duties in the accounts department as and when needed by the business

What can you bring to the team?
- An understanding of accounting principles, debits and credits, accruals and prepayments
- Good analytical and strong numerical skills
- Knowledge of business processes
- Studying towards a recognised accountancy qualification or willingness to do so
- Experience of working in an accounts/office role
- Proficient in Microsoft products, especially strong Excel skills
- Full Training will be provided on both procedures and in-house systems
- Good attention to detail and strong work ethic
- The ability to communicate effectively both orally and written (Essential)
- Confidence and experience in liaising with third party external suppliers as required
