Assistant Accountant | Manchester city centre | £30,000 - £35,000

An exciting opportunity to join a hugely profitable business based in Central Manchester. This company have continued to grow under the expert guidance of an experienced CFO and Financial Controller who are now looking to add an aspirational Assistant Accountant into the team.

A newly created role, designed to assist the Financial Controller with a broad set of responsibilities ideal for someone starting their journey to Qualification (CIMA/ACCA).

Main duties will include;

  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
  • Analysing variances between actual and budgeted figures and reporting findings to senior management.
  • Supporting the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Monitoring budgets and expenditures to ensure alignment with financial targets.
  • Managing accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations during month-end processes.
  • Preparing and posting journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Assisting with the preparation of documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Supporting accounts payable and receivable functions by processing invoices and payments.
  • Reviewing and processing employee expense claims.
  • Preparing ad hoc financial reports and analysis for senior management.

Candidate Profile;

  • Ideally working towards CIMA/ACCA Qualification
  • Prior experience working within a finance department, ideally with exposure to month end accounting
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Hard working and ‘can do’ attitude
  • Comfortable working in a changing environment
