Assistant Management Accountant
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Assistant management Accountant to deliver comprehensive and high-quality services across the business internally and to our clients. The position of Assistant Management Accountant is responsible for assisting a wide variety of Management Accountant activities and collaborating with other Finance departmental tasks. This role sits within the UK Finance team assisting the Head of Finance UK and the Commercial Finance Manager and supports the wider function alongside the organisations UK and global accounting colleagues.
Essential functions of the job
- Analyse financial information to enable business profitability and growth.
- Prepare journal entries for month-end and year-end journals.
- Produce accurate management reporting to support key decision making.
- Process payment runs as requested and required.
Assist with producing:
- Statutory and management accounts in line with the group timetable (P&L and Balance Sheet) including variance analysis and commentaries.
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations ensuring all actions required are clearly documented for review by Head of Finance.
- Year-end audit deliverables including preparation of year-end schedules and completion of audit testing.
- Relevant commercial analysis e.g., margins, pricing and weekly sales.
Provide assistance with:
- Management of capital expenditure.
- Annual budgeting, reforecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Comply with all financial regulations, including participation with periodic regulatory reporting.
- Adhere to PCI regulations to ensure compliance in accordance with Company policy.
- Maintain historical records according to legislation and procedures.
Other responsibilities of the job
- Liaise and collaborate with Finance colleagues across UK and global offices.
- Complete all day-to-day Finance activities in a timely manner and in line with company requirements.
- Be involved with ad-hoc Finance projects as required.
- Review accounting practices and suggest improved processes to ensure efficient financial operations.
- Assist with developing, preparing and testing new software and system implementations.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Education and qualifications
- Education to Degree level or higher
- AAT, ACCA / CIMA part-qualified
Experience:
- Recognised Accounting qualification or training
- Extensive and proven record of working in a fast-paced environment
- Excel skills at intermediate level or higher
- Skilled user of other Microsoft Office Suite packages
- Accounting experience within the travel industry would be preferred
- Working knowledge of Travcom or other travel finance packages - preferred
- Experience of SAP BO - preferred
