Lead Civil & Structural Engineer

On behalf of our client, we are recruiting Lead Civil & Structural Engineers to join their multi-disciplinary engineering team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role within the Civil & Structural (C&S) team. You will be responsible for the technical leadership and delivery of civil and structural advice, analysis, calculations, reports, and specifications for their End Client project. In addition, you will oversee the delivery of wider multi-disciplinary engineering initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget while collaborating closely with Electrical, Mechanical, and Process Engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce and rationalise cost-effective design layouts that meet project specifications and ensure safe, efficient construction and commissioning.
  • Provide technical direction, guidance, and approval for team outputs.
  • Forecast future requirements for engineers, designers, and other specialists to support project delivery.
  • Collaborate with project controls to manage activities and budget, identifying and actioning any changes or opportunities.
  • Ensure seamless integration of designs with all internal and external disciplines for the overall benefit of the project.
  • Maintain accurate files and records throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Promote standard safe practices and proactively intervene to avert potential SHE incidents
  • Provide estimates and feedback for proposals.
  • Adhere to established procedures and processes, contributing to the continuous development of the department.

 Experience

  • A minimum of 5 -10 years’ experience in Civil and Structural design, with at least 5 recent years in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Proven experience managing projects through Concept, FEED, Detailed Design, Delivery, Commissioning, and Handover stages.
  • Experience with both new and historic structures, optioneering assessments, defining scopes of work, supporting estimates, and business development.
  • Seismic Design experience is preferred.
  • While predominantly a design-based role from the office, you will be required to support delivery teams during construction and handover stages, including ad hoc site visits.

 Qualifications:

  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Membership of a professional institution (chartered or nearing chartership).
  • A solid understanding of Process Safety and CDM principles.
  • Experience working within the NEC suite of contracts.
