We are seeking a Design Engineer to join an exciting business, focusing on designing and developing components for the aerospace/aviation industries. This role offers hybrid working 3 days in the office and 2 days at home. You will report directly to the Design Manager and play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of engineering excellence.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Design and develop aircraft components and assemblies, ensuring compliance with civil and military aviation industry standards.
  • Generate production drawings for components and assemblies using written specifications.
  • Handle drawing change requests in line with our change management procedures.
  • Engage in reverse engineering of components for product improvements or changes using 2D metrology equipment.
  • Oversee projects from the design phase through to full-scale production.
  • Collaborate with other departments and suppliers to ensure seamless design and production processes.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the design office.
  • Participate in both internal and customer-facing meetings as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar 2D CAD applications and SolidWorks for modelling.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM and Aprotec DMS vaulting systems.
  • Experience of reverse engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to support design work with appropriate calculations and theory.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) level is desirable.
