We are a growing and dynamic M&E business currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our expanding team. Role Profile
As a Mechanical Estimator, you will play a vital role in developing accurate costings and scopes for a variety of mechanical installation projects. Working within a busy commercial team, you will produce competitive tenders, quotations, and estimates for mechanical works across sectors including HVAC, plumbing, and building services.
The ideal candidate will have a proven background in mechanical estimating within the M&E or construction industry and possess excellent analytical skills, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit tenders, estimates, and quotations for mechanical installation projects.
- Calculate quantities and costs of materials, equipment, and labour.
- Conduct take-offs from drawings and specifications to support accurate pricing.
- Assess supplier and subcontractor quotes for accuracy and value.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure full understanding of project requirements.
- Produce project bids in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide value engineering solutions and alternative proposals where appropriate.
- Support project handovers to site teams with comprehensive documentation and cost breakdowns.
- Continuously review and refine estimating procedures for accuracy and efficiency.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, materials, and market costs.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- A qualification in mechanical engineering, building services, or a relevant trade background.
- Minimum 3–5 years of mechanical estimating experience within M&E or construction.
- Excellent understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems.
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience using estimating software (such as Trimble, Estimation, or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general office applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to quality and accuracy
