Principal Structural Engineer
Salford Quays, Greater Manchester
55,000 - 68,000 plus benefits


A European-wide multidisciplinary Engineering consultancy are looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to join the team from their Salford Quays office at MediaCity. You will be joining a Civil & Structural team of around 50 Engineers and Technicians as well as teams of Architectural, M&E and Geo Engineers too, which totals around 200 staff working hand-in-hand with each other.

The ideal candidate will work on exciting projects with niche clients in a range of sectors, including Life Sciences, Industrial, Custodial and Education.

The ideal Principal Structural Engineer will be:

  • Can lead on design delivery within a project
  • Happy to work client-facing and manage projects on behalf of the business
  • 8+ years of experience in Structural design
  • Candidate could be CEng MICE or MIStructE or in the process of applying for the interview - happy to consider non chartered, but we would need this person to WANT to be chartered and maybe just hasn't had the opportunity or time to get this done (at a chartership level experience and knowledge wise, just not formally done yet)



Non Negotiable:

  • Experience/Ability in Projects from RIBA Stage 0/1-6
  • Experience/Ability of working in Computational Analysis Programs (for example Masterseries)
  • Experience/Ability of Leading Single Disciplinary Teams
  • Experience/Ability Calculating and Detailing for Steel/Concrete/Timber/Masonry Structures


Preferred but not non negotiable:

  • Candidate is to be CEng MICE or MIstructE (or in the process of applying for the interview)
  • Experience/Ability in Managing Fees and Resourcing


Remote working: hybrid working according to company 1 day per week, first week essentially in the office to settle etc and from there when agreed they can work the hybrid approach - most people come in 2-3 times a week as they prefer it.

The right candidate can expect a starting salary of 55,000 - 68,000 as well as discretionary annual bonuses and 26+ days holiday plus bank holidays and an impressive pension scheme.
