Job Role: Quality Engineer
Location: Manchester
Salary: 35,000-40,000 per annum DOE
The company:
Our client is the UK's leading supplier within the steel industry working across the construction, automotive, agricultural and industrial engineering sectors and are looking for a Quality Engineer to join them on a permanent basis.
As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the manufacturing processes and products meet the highest quality standards. You will work closely with production teams to monitor, assess, and improve the quality of the steel rollformed and press braked products. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise and drive improvements in an established business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the quality control processes throughout the production cycle, ensuring products are manufactured in accordance with industry standards and customer specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections and tests to verify the quality of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Identify areas for improvement in manufacturing processes and work with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve product quality, and increase efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of quality inspections, testing, and audits.
- Ensure compliance with industry quality standards (ISO 9001) and health & safety regulations.
- Investigate quality issues and non-conformities, using root cause analysis techniques to identify the underlying causes.
Develop and implement effective solutions to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
The Candidate:
- Proven experience in a quality engineering role within the manufacturing sector, preferably in steel, metalworking, or rollforming industries.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001 or equivalent).
- Experience with quality control tools (e.g., SPC, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, Six Sigma).
- Excellent analytical and organisational skills and proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Proven experience in quality assurance or engineering roles, particularly within manufacturing or food industries.
