Quality Engineer - Special Process
Overview:
We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Quality Engineer to join our client, one of the UK's most trusted and established engineering companies. This role is integral to ensuring compliance, continual improvement, and technical excellence within our soft metal heat treatment and testing processes. The successful candidate will play a key part in maintaining NADCAP and customer approvals, supporting internal teams, and preparing the business for both internal and external audits.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure full compliance with NADCAP and customer-specific requirements for special processes, particularly soft metal heat treatment and associated testing.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across heat treatment processes to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
- Conduct internal and external audits in line with regulatory, customer, and company standards.
- Provide technical support to production and manufacturing teams, offering expertise in special processes and quality control.
- Liaise with suppliers, especially calibration and maintenance service providers, to ensure equipment is compliant and fit for purpose.
- Collaborate with both internal departments and external stakeholders to foster a culture of quality and compliance.
- Lead investigations into process deviations and non-conformances, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Maintain and improve Quality Management System (QMS) documentation related to special processes.
- Occasionally deputise for the Quality Manager, taking on leadership responsibilities as required.
- Prepare detailed audit reports and contribute to management review meetings.
Candidate Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience in special processes related to soft metal heat treatment, ideally in aerospace or automotive industries.
- Proven in conducting audits and maintaining compliance with NADCAP, ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar standards.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems (QMS) and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results under pressure.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and QMS software tools.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance. A DBS check and provision of three years of employment references will be necessary before commencement.
