Our client, a rapidly expanding company in the fire suppression industry is looking for a senior member of staff to lead their design team.  This is a key appointment for them, looking for someone with a strong design background, knowledge of the regulations and ability to lead a design team.  The role will involve: -

  • Design – although a leadership role, it is expected that you will have strong expertise of relevant design software, particularly AutoCad and Revit (ideally).  You will also be expected to have strong documentation skills.
  • Team Leadership – delegating work, ensuring accuracy of drawings and adherence to regulatory standards, mentoring and developing staff, managing resource allocation to ensure project timelines are met, etc.
  • Compliance – ensuring all work is compliant with BSEN 12845 and BS9251 along with all relevant building codes
  • Client / Internal Liaison – as a key member link in the chain to ensure client expectation are met, you will have the ability to manage client-based queries related to design, provide proposals / solutions, work with the sales and delivery teams to assist in making sure projects stay on track, etc

The ideal candidate will have: -

  • Strong experience in a design focused position within the fire sprinkler industry (Ideally 5 years plus).
  • Supervisory / management / leadership / mentoring experience.
  • Relevant certifications including LPCB, FHC (ideally) – any residential design qualifications a bonus.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skill, both staff management and ensuring that the design department is performing at the highest level.
  • Although this is primarily office based, a driving licence and ability to travel to sites is needed.

The successful candidate will gain full ownership of the design department over time.  They are looking for a strong leader who can develop your staff and ensure that the competing priorities of different projects are managed in an efficient manner.  Any expertise across commercial as well as residential fire sprinkler systems would be a particular advantage.
