Butler Rose are working with a technology business based in Trafford Park, Manchester who are looking for an Accounts Assistant/Credit Controller to join their finance team.

You will be a key member of a small finance team, supporting the Finance Manager with the day to day running of the department.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant / Credit Controller to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the accounts department with day-to-day financial transactions while ensuring effective credit control processes. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build strong relationships with customers to manage and reduce outstanding debts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining accurate financial records, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely payment and follow up on overdue invoices.
  • Contact customers via phone, email, and written communication to chase outstanding debts.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Process invoices, credit notes, and payments accurately and promptly.
  • Assist in preparing reports on debtor balances, aged debt analysis, and cash flow forecasting.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve any credit control issues.
  • Support the month-end closing process by ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and general ledger postings.
  • Provide administrative support to the finance team as required.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in an accounts or credit control role.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work to deadlines.
  • A proactive and problem-solving mindset.
