Court of Protection Legal Executive/ Solicitor - Manchester - £32k - £36k + excellent benefits

Reporting to the Partner and Head of Court of Protection, the primary role of the Legal Executive/ Solicitor is to handle the management of Property and Affairs Deputyships, working with brain injured and vulnerable clients, Trust management, assisting with tax affairs and accounts, drafting Personal Injury Trusts, Statutory Wills, and other associated applications to the Court of Protection.

You will alsohandle the purchase and adaptation of properties to meet the needs of our disabled clients; create and monitor client’s budgets to ensure fund sustainability, liaising with case managers, doctors, therapists, care teams, surveyors, architects, and other specialists as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Partner and Head of Department in building and developing a Court of Protection and Private Client Team
  • Work closely with the Partner on Deputyships focused on providing litigation support, with the potential to manage an independent caseload as the number of cases increase, some of which might include contentious Deputyship work
  • Provide comprehensive legal advice and representation to clients and family members, within the context of the Mental Capacity Act and other relevant legislation, supported by the Partner
  • Attend clients at hospitals, in their home and care/nursing homes Make regular payments to clients and keep accurate schedules of these payments. Also forecast forward spending and creation of budgets
  • Day-to-day contact with clients and their individual lifestyle requirements
  • Delegate tasks, supervise work and provide constructive feedback where appropriate to paralegals and trainees

Skills/Experience:

  • Good working knowledge and experience of Court of Protection
  • Claimant experience
  • Experience of using a case management system

Qualifications:

  • Degree level educated or equivalent qualification/ experience
  • Qualified /Legal Executive status
  • Full driving licence and own car
