Due to increased global growth, our client, who is a well-established multi-national SME company, who is rapidly expanding and specialize in offering supply chain and logistics solutions, are looking to recruit a Business Development Manager. The position is a home/field based role covering the North-West region and reporting into offices in the Birmingham area.

The role is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to make a move into a field sales role. The hiring team are happy to consider applications from those working in operational roles or internals sales and customer service roles that have the desire to progress into a field sales / business development role. Someone coming from an inside sales/pricing/account manager role looking to take the next step into sales would be ideal.

Main Responsibilities of the Business Development Manager:

  • Focus and drive to achieve sales targets selling freight forwarding and customs clearance solutions
  • Identify sales opportunities whilst profiling all new businesses to understand intricately how the business can support with freight forwarding/customs clearance services
  • Proactively scope new business opportunities - seeking new international road, sea and air freight business by conducting sales and marketing calls, book face to face meetings with potential clients.
  • Offer a consultative approach regarding the products and services available for all modes of transport, selling the service to gain the business and client’s confidence to establish a long-term business relationship.
  • Represent the company in the best possible light with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrate a track record of developing and enhancing current client portfolios
  • Demonstrate technical selling skills and product knowledge
  • Display excellent communication skills that include the ability to influence and negotiate where required
  • Ensuring all relevant information is correct when offering freight quotes to new and existing customers.
  • Providing monthly reports on sales activity, revenue and growth

To Be Considered:

  • Proven experience within the freight forwarding industry - business development/sales is not essential for this role.
  • Knowledge and experience of Import/Export multimodal freight forwarding business.
  • Demonstrate high quality communication skills along with good presentation skills.
  • Good understanding of logistics processes and procedures.
  • Must have the Right to Work in the UK.
  • Must have a full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.
