A global engineering firm is seeking an Associate Civil Engineer specializing in Aviation to join its industry-leading aviation infrastructure team.
You will have the opportunity to advance your career as an Associate in a well-established team. The role involves managing the design team and working closely with other associates, including those in the Airfield Ground Lighting team. You will also liaise with various aviation architectural and building services teams, as well as interface with both airport and contractor clients. The position is client-facing, where you will act as a key point of contact on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with other associates, particularly in the Airfield Ground Lighting team.
- Coordinate with aviation architectural and building services teams.
- Serve as the main point of contact for airport and contractor clients.
- Produce design programmes, reports, and specifications while monitoring progress.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Assist with fee proposals, tender submissions, and project interviews.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you should have substantial experience in the following areas:
- Civil engineering and pavement (airfield/highway) design.
- Knowledge of airfield infrastructure design and working in a live airport environment.
- Project management experience, particularly in managing multiple projects and design disciplines.
- An understanding of commercial and buildability requirements.
- Experience in managing a design team, including engineers and technicians (CAD).
- Civil 3D experience/knowledge.
- Familiarity with construction materials used in airfield infrastructure and drainage design.
- Experience working in a Design and Build environment.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Chartered status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and substantial design experience.
- Experience in aviation infrastructure design, using CAP 168, EASA, ICAO, and military standards.
- Understanding of airside operations and airport functioning.
- Pavement design expertise, using DMG27, FAA design standards, or FAARFIELD.
- Knowledge of Airfield Ground Lighting and other airport infrastructure services.
- Ability to contribute to fee proposals, tender submissions, and project interviews.
- Familiarity with contracts, such as the NEC suite, and the preparation of tender documents.
- Experience in mentoring team members.
