Position: Civil /Structural Engineer
Location: Manchester
Salary: £60,000 -£65,000 per annum, plus generous profit share & benefits;

Their profession is not tender or framework driven, fee margins are lucrative, demand remains strong throughout economic cycles. In addition to your salary you will receive a generous percentage of your fee income.
Your work will have a technical focus, requiring a civil or structural engineer who is curious by nature with good analytical, lateral thinking and deductive reasoning skills. The workload will be varied and consistently intriguing, encompassing; buildings, transportation, infrastructure, utilities, industrial facilities and more.
The Company: One of the longest established and most respected forensic investigations practices. They employ some of the UK’s most experienced experts in civil & structural, mechanical, fire and offshore engineering. A medium size partnership that has traded for over fifty years with several regional offices. They have successfully worked on thousands of cases for corporate clients, legal firms, insurers and adjusters.
Your Role: Your focus will be on civil/structural engineering, investigating the root cause and origin of civil and structural defects through to catastrophic failures. Your findings will be used to resolve legal disputes, claims and to improve standards in the UK and internationally. During initial site investigations you will typically oversee field testing, gather photographic evidence and interview witnesses. This information will enable you to unravel the cause of the failure. You will then prepare a report that provides a clear explanation of your findings. Your caseload will be broad in nature, but always aligned to your technical expertise and abilities.
Profile Required: A degree qualified civil or structural engineer. You will have a design background gained with a consulting practice or contractor. Your experience could be in heavy civil engineering, infrastructure or civil/building structures. If you are not a chartered civil or structural engineer you should be close to achieving chartered status. Good communication skills are essential, and as this role will progress to partnership level you will need some commercial awareness and acumen.
