Role: Senior Civil Designer (Structural Concrete & Water Works)

Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum (Negotiabe on experience) + Package

Location: Trafford, Greater Manchester

Employment Model: Permanent 

Hybrid/ Home Working: Preferably home based although some flexibiity can be negotiated

The client is an emerging electrification engineering and civil construction contractor and consultancy who works closely with a wide range of prestigious engineering and construction clients across several disciplines within the UK civil infrastructure industry.  These disciplines include; Design, Engineering, Construction & Maintenance.

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and chartered Civil Designer with a strong background in structural concrete and waterworks design including; Foundations, Storage tanks, Earthworks, Reinforced concrete and similar for flow enhancement works for the water industry.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering design solutions for critical water infrastructure projects, with a primary focus on Thames Water projects initially.

This position requires a deep understanding of civil engineering principles, structural integrity, and water treatment processes, ensuring all designs meet industry standards, safety regulations, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements.
  • Produce design calculations and drawings.
  • Direct and develop CAD technicians and more junior designers and graduates.
  • Prepare design investigations, reports and specifications.
  • Design in compliance with relevant technical, professional and group standards.
  • Ensure project change for design package is fully implemented and recorded.
  • Undertake work using formal processes and procedures.
  • Estimate hours required for design packages
  • Present and attend IDC meetings and design presentations

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • 10 years’ relevant design experience in structural and/or civil engineering
  • Graduate or HND
  • Good level IT
  • Registered with professional body and working towards chartership

Preferred Experience & Qualifications:

  • Chartered engineer
  • Experience in temporary works design, structures and civil engineering
  • Awareness of construction methods and materials.
  • Knowledge of Engineering Drawing Practices.
  • Experience working in the utilities, water or railway industries
  • Proficient in TEDs, Ansys, STAAD and/or MATHCAD
