The Role:

Our client is seeking an experienced and driven Civils Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work on exciting projects across the North West, with a focus on Civil Engineering (Highways/Structures). As part of the commercial team, you will manage the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring the company's interests are protected while maintaining excellent relationships with clients, subcontractors, and site teams.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare weekly cost and production reports; undertake cost forecasts.
  • Work with site teams to assess and prepare quotations, estimates, and negotiate subcontractor rates.
  • Manage the production of valuations, prepare submissions to clients, and agree final accounts with all parties.
  • Subcontractor Management: Oversee subcontractor enquiries, order placements, and payment assessments.
  • Liaise with site teams, subcontractors, and the finance team to ensure smooth operations and accurate reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports for the Financial Director.
  • Always represent the company in a professional and positive manner to clients and external organizations.


Candidate Requirements:



Qualifications & Experience:

  • QS Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Extensive experience in Civil Engineering (Highways/Structures) with a strong background in both public and private sector projects.
  • Working knowledge of NEC (mainly) and JCT forms of contract.
  • Proven ability to manage the commercial aspects of large projects, ensuring quality and cost efficiency.

  • Ability to protect the financial interests of the company while fostering positive relationships.
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to mentor and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Understanding of construction costs, project components, and contract terms.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Able to make informed decisions and work autonomously when necessary.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and measurement software.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.
