Estimator - Social Housing

Up to £75k + Car Allowance
We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join a leading Property and Infrastructure main contractor our dynamic team in Manchester. In this key role, you will be responsible for accurately evaluating project costs and preparing competitive bids for clients within the Housing Maintenance sector.
Responsibilities of the successful candidate will include:
- Reviewing project specifications, drawings, and relevant documentation to compile precise cost estimates
- Working closely with different departments to ensure tender submissions are competitively priced, commercially viable, and technically comprehensive
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and industry professionals to support future tender opportunities and business growth
- Preparing and presenting detailed cost breakdowns for tenders, ensuring all deadlines and timescales are met
- Assisting in the smooth transition from tendering to project handover, ensuring clear communication with project delivery teams
- Staying informed about market trends, material costs, and labour rates to ensure accurate and up-to-date pricing
- Identify potential risks and opportunities in project estimates, offering strategies to mitigate risks and enhance value
- Contribute to the improvement of estimating processes and procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in the construction industry, with a background in Social Housing
- Familiarity with JCT & ACA suite of contracts
- Ability to interpret design drawings, extract key details, and prepare Bills of Quantities
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail
- Proficiency in estimating software or a willingness to learn
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organisational skills and the capability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously
- Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or a related field are desirable
