Linux Cloud Devops Engineer - Manchester

Due to expansion, a very good client of mine based in Manchester is recruiting for a new role as an Operations Engineer / Linux Administrator. The position involves supporting and maintaining IT systems and the DevOps environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain and Support Systems: Ensure that the servers and services used by their data systems are functioning smoothly.
  • Handle Support Requests: Assist both customers and staff with technical issues.
  • Deploy and Scale Systems: Help with setting up and expanding systems to meet demands.
  • Monitor and Respond: Keep an eye on performance, handle alerts and alarms, and investigate any performance issues.
  • Collaborate: Work with other teams like engineering, testing, and user experience to improve processes.
  • Improve Automation: Be involved in enhancing automated processes for system management and monitoring.

Skills Needed:

  • Linux Knowledge: Experience with Red Hat or other Linux distributions.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and find solutions.
  • Communication: Good at interacting with others and following established processes.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

  • Scripting: Python or other scripting language skills.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Experience with tools like Puppet and Terraform.
  • Cloud and Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with AWS Cloudwatch, PagerDuty, etc.
  • Windows Management: Knowledge of tools like InTune MDM.
