Sheffield Technology is seeking a dynamic and visionary Business Development Director to spearhead our strategic growth initiatives and oversee the promotion of our advanced metal processing and fabrication capabilities.

This executive-level role combines strategic leadership with direct business development responsibilities, including managing a high-performing sales team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in laser cutting technologies and metal fabrication, a proven ability to drive growth in new and existing markets, and the leadership acumen to guide our sales strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Growth Strategy: Develop and implement the company's comprehensive business development strategy to achieve ambitious revenue and market expansion goals.
  • Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of sales professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Market Expansion: Identify and penetrate new markets, focusing on high-value sectors such as OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and other key industries.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with executive leadership, technical teams, and operations to align business development initiatives with company objectives.

Sales & Business Development

  • Technology Promotion: Drive adoption of Sheffield Technology's advanced laser cutting capabilities, including our 24kW laser cutting machine and fabrication.
  • Client Acquisition: Build and maintain long-term relationships with senior decision-makers, offering tailored solutions to meet their unique requirements.
  • Value-Added Services: Promote complementary offerings such as bending, pressing, machining, and project management to maximise customer value and profitability.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Develop and nurture partnerships with key stakeholders to enhance market positioning and unlock growth opportunities.
  • Presentations: Prepare and deliver high-impact presentations and proposals to secure new business and reinforce client relationships.
  • Customer Excellence: Maintain the highest service standards to enhance client satisfaction and drive loyalty.

Required Skills & Attributes

Professional Experience

  • Industry Expertise: A minimum of 10 years of experience in materials processing, with significant exposure to both laser cutting technologies and metal fabrication.
  • Executive Leadership: Proven success in leading business development teams and delivering substantial growth in revenue and market share.
  • Strategic Acumen: Demonstrated ability to design and implement forward-thinking sales and market strategies.
  • Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the UK, Irish, and EU markets, particularly within OEMs, Tier 1 clients, and high-value sectors.
