Role Detail

The Head of Business Developments’ principal role will be to inspire, motivate and drive the sales team to deliver the forecast revenue. Key to this role is having the ability to identify new business opportunities to increase the client base. You will lead change and act as an ambassador for the company.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of leading a team of Account Managers enabling them to build a strong pipeline of prospective and long-standing clients for the business.

The goal is to promote and expand the company’s commercial activity which will generate revenues and lead to sustainable growth. This may well include having a sector focus which capitalises upon those industries which are rapidly evolving.

This senior position will be responsible for the development and implementation of the sales and business development strategy. Devising KPI’s for the sales team ensuring these are monitored and in line with the forecast sales.

Key to the success of this role will be the understanding and ability to carry out training needs analysis for clients to further support and identify requirements for training, and consultatively work with the clients to bridge any gaps in their training strategy.

Crucially, the post holder will develop strategic relationships with key staff internally and with external partners to support the development of new programmes in strategically important growth areas.

The post holder will have strong commercial awareness. They will be a dynamic and positive individual that can quickly identify commercial opportunities and meet the changing needs of the market.

They will be intuitive, inspiring with strong skills and experience of leading a successful and high performing sales team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop a company wide sales and business development strategy, meeting the financial objectives for the company
  • Be accountable for the achievement of the sales forecast in line with the budget
  • Lead on the account management strategy; providing support and or training to your team to effectively account manage clients
  • Ensure sales resource is allocated to the required areas of sales, sponsorship, and delegate acquisition
  • Ensure the sales staff are utilising consultative selling through carrying Training Needs Analysis and identifying requirements for future training with clients
  • Ensure staff are trained, coached, and developed to deliver their KPI’s
  • Ensure staff are using the appropriate information management systems to record pipeline sales and results
  • Manage performance accordingly for the team
  • Be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key clients
  • Be responsible for developing and maintaining an accurate database of email contacts within GDPR guidelines
  • Ensure that customers receive a good service, and the reputation of the company is upheld
