Job Title: CNC Machinist (Turner)
Location: Hastings
Shift Pattern: Swing Shift
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled CNC Turners to join our team. You will be responsible for the setup, optimisation, and operation of a variety of CNC machines within our machine shop. This role is ideal for someone with experience in CNC machining, who is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
The position offers a competitive salary, shift allowance, and relocation and joining bonuses.
Benefits:
- Salary: 24,000 - 29,000 per annum
- Shift Allowance: 33.3%
- Relocation Support: Up to 8,000
- Joining Bonus: 3,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC machines by installing and adjusting work holding devices, tooling, spindle liners, and bar feeders.
- Operate CNC machines, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Verify programs and settings using a range of measurement equipment on first articles and make necessary adjustments.
- Ensure components meet compliance with engineering drawings and quality standards.
- Record daily machine operations and report on equipment effectiveness.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
- Maintain and improve time standards for production.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and uphold a high standard of housekeeping.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Support the team with additional tasks as needed across production or other departments.
Requirements:
- Time-served apprentice with C&G/NVQ or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
- Proven experience working with minimal supervision on early/late shifts.
- Competent in setting and operating 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC machines.
- Experience with Fanuc, Citizen, and Mazatrol systems is desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Proficient in using a range of measurement equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring a high standard of work with minimal defects.
- Organized, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
- Flexibility to handle various tasks and responsibilities efficiently.
- Strong communication skills across all levels.
