Job Overview
Mech Electrics are seeking an experienced Electrical Site Manager to oversee the electrical installation and commissioning works for a £30 million Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) project based in Manchester City Centre. This new-build commercial/office project will involve the installation of high-quality electrical systems, including power, lighting, fire alarms, security. The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing electrical installations on large-scale building services projects and a strong understanding of health and safety standards, quality control, and project management processes.
Key Responsibilities
Site Management:
Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of electrical works on site, ensuring that work is completed to the highest standards, on time, and within budget.
Supervise the electrical installation teams and sub-contractors, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulations.
Act as the primary point of contact for all electrical-related matters between the client, the main contractor, and the subcontractors.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure all electrical works are conducted in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Electricity at Work Regulations, and other relevant legislation.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, ensuring a safe working environment for all site personnel.
Manage and enforce safe work practices, and promote a zero-tolerance approach to health and safety risks on site.
Quality Control:
Monitor the installation of all electrical systems to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications, making sure that work is carried out to the correct industry standards.
Organise and oversee inspections, testing, and commissioning of electrical installations, ensuring that any defects are identified and rectified promptly.
Project Coordination:
Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and other trades to ensure the electrical works integrate seamlessly with the overall construction schedule.
Plan and manage the site logistics for electrical materials, tools, and equipment.
Maintain an up-to-date record of all electrical works, including progress reports, issue logs, and any changes to the scope of work.
Team Leadership and Development:
Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of electricians and junior staff.
Manage subcontractors, ensuring their performance meets project expectations and contractual obligations.
Facilitate regular team meetings to review progress, solve issues, and ensure the smooth running of operations.
Client and Stakeholder Liaison:
Maintain strong, professional relationships with key stakeholders, including the client, design consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.
Provide regular updates on the progress of electrical installations, highlighting any issues or delays that could impact the overall project schedule.
Ensure that all work is completed in line with client expectations, contractual requirements, and budget constraints.
Documentation & Reporting:
Ensure all electrical works are fully documented, including drawings, specifications, testing certificates, and site records.
Provide regular progress reports, including updates on cost, schedule, and any issues that may arise during the course of the work.
Ensure that all required certifications and documentation are provided on time for handover.
Qualifications & Experience
Electrical Engineering qualification
IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (2391 or equivalent) and relevant electrical safety certifications.
Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or equivalent health & safety qualification.
Ideally at least 5 years’ experience working as an Electrical Site Manager or similar role on large-scale building services projects, ideally within commercial, office, or mixed-use developments.
Extensive experience with electrical installations in new-build projects, including power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, fire alarms, data cabling, and security systems.
Strong understanding of electrical regulations, industry standards, and building codes (e.g., 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, BS 7671).
Proven track record of managing electrical works within tight deadlines and complex construction schedules.
Experience in managing electrical subcontractors and ensuring work is completed to high standards of quality and safety.

Proficiency in project management software.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain clear and accurate records.
