Opportunity

This is a great opportunity to launch a new division within a successful and long-standing well-known Manchester based construction company. This role would suit someone with a strong background in M&E and a desire to play a pivotal role in developing a new revenue stream for this highly successful organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead the M&E division, setting up workflows, hiring team members, and managing day-to-day operations.
  • Manage subcontractors for initial M&E work, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Internalise suitable work currently subcontracted by the maintenance department.
  • Develop and implement strategies for heat pump and green technology services.
  • Hire and manage a growing team of engineers, including plumbers, electricians, and specialists in renewable energy.
  • Collaborate with administrative and business support teams to streamline operations.
  • Build relationships with suppliers to secure cost-effective and high-quality materials.
  • Set and achieve KPIs for the division, including profitability, customer satisfaction, and sustainability goals.

Person Specification

  • Proven track record in M&E services, ideally also with heat pumps and low-carbon technology.
  • Experience in managing teams and subcontractors.
  • Background in setting up or growing a new department/division is advantageous.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent organisational and project management abilities.
  • Commercial awareness and adaptability to learn and grow within the business.
  • Self-starter with a 'thirsty' spirit, eager to build and grow a new division.
  • Resilient and patient, understanding the challenges of scaling a new operation.
  • Focused on delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions.
