Health & Safety Lead

Location: Flexible - anywhere in the UK

Reports to: Technical Support Services Lead

About the Role:

We are recruiting on behalf of one of the UK's leading construction, engineering & infrastructure specialists. They are looking for an experienced Health & Safety experttolead and shape the H&Sculture within their Specialist Services business. Your role would be to manage a team of H&S Advisors, ensuring compliance and driving continuous improvement across multiple industries, including Nuclear, Cleanrooms, Infrastructure, and E&I. This is a full-time opportunity with travel required to sites across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of H&S Advisors to improve safety performance.
  • Oversee project site compliance and conduct audits/inspections.
  • Support pre-qualification processes for bids (HSE & Quality components).
  • Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventive actions.
  • Drive H&S initiatives and improvement projects across the business.
  • Collaborate with leadership and HR on safety strategies.
  • Support subcontractor and supplier HSE performance and compliance.
  • Analyse data and prepare reports for informed decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Construction Industry H&S training
  • 3+ years of HSE experience (preferably in construction)

Preferred:

  • Chartered MIOSH / H&S MSc
  • Experience in Nuclear, Pharma, or Oil & Gas sectors

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and influencing abilities
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • High IT literacy and data analysis proficiency
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management (up to Board level)
  • Effective multitasking, time management, and prioritization

Travel required across the UK to support teams and projects.
