Finance Manager (Risk & Control)

Salary: 750 - 850 (outside IR35)

Location: Manchester (hybrid)

Duration: 6 months contract but could be extended

Sellick Partnership has been assigned to recruit a Risk and Control Manager for a successful and instantly recognisable business based in Manchester. The business has outperformed their competitors over the past few years and will continue to do so by driving their strategic plan, delivering further improvements and changes that will make a real impact on the whole business.

As Finance Manager for Risk and Controls, you will be responsible for developing and embedding the Group Risk Management Framework as it applies to the Finance & Procurement teams. The role also provides first line risk guidance and business support on financial control matters, including support with the ongoing Finance Transformation Programme. This role requires a self-motivated and focused person who will quickly establish themselves as a key contact challenging the status quo and striving for best practice.

General responsibilities:-

  • Be the risk and control subject matter expert for the Finance & Procurement function, providing the key link with the Group Risk function.
  • Working with colleagues across the Finance & Procurement and Group Finance functions, develop an effective risk control framework, where all relevant risk types are identified, measured, managed, monitored and reported.
  • Ensure the risk control framework is fully embedded into the function, with clear ownership of risk categories and KRI's, and a formal Governance & monitoring process in place
  • Working with the Group Risk function, ensure the risk management framework supports the enhanced UK Corporate Governance Code regarding Board-level monitoring & reporting of risk management and internal control frameworks
  • Provide support to the team on relevant risk and control matters, including both BAU and project activities such as development of the risk & control matrices for the Finance Transformation Programme

The successful applicant will be ACA or ACCA or CIMA qualified and have a background in a similar risk and control role where you have developed and embedded a risk management framework. Therefore experience of controls development and monitoring within a financial systems implementation project, particularly SAP, is essential.

You will possess good leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and support teams across finance coupled with building positive relationships with teams and leaders through to executive level across the business to work collaboratively.

Ideally, you will have experience from a similar dynamic and complex business and have the ability to juggle multiple conflicting priorities, working to tight deadlines. More importantly, you will have the ability to build successful relationships with partners across the business.

If you consider yourself to be a committed, career driven professional who can demonstrate the above experience and who would welcome the stimulus of this commercial finance post then we would be pleased to hear from you.

If you would like to apply for this role or would like to find out more, please apply online or contact Jonathan Moss at Sellick Partnership on (phone number removed).

We are only able to consider applications from those who are eligible to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship.
