Assistant Planner

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Planner to join a well-established planning consultancy based in Altrincham. This is a fantastic role for an ambitious graduate or early-career professional looking to develop their skills in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment.



The Role

As an Assistant Planner, you will support a team of experienced professionals in delivering high-quality planning advice and innovative solutions to a diverse client base. You will gain hands-on experience across a range of projects, with excellent opportunities for career progression and RTPI accreditation support.



Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site research, including planning history reviews and policy analysis
  • Assist in preparing planning applications, statements, and reports
  • Draft application forms, covering letters, and supporting documents
  • Coordinate client meetings and presentations
  • Maintain project documentation and correspondence
  • Support senior colleagues in preparing for planning committees
  • Keep up to date with planning legislation and industry developments


About You

  • A master's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Some experience in town planning (beneficial but not essential)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Adobe Creative Suite skills are advantageous
  • A proactive approach to professional development, including working towards RTPI accreditation
