Operations Technician

Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading energy provider to recruit an Operations Technician for their CCGT power station in Manchester.

Reporting to the Operations Team Leader, you will:

• Operate the power plant safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with legislation, site procedures, and best practices.
• Monitor plant performance, diagnose issues, and respond to alarms to maintain operational reliability.
• Conduct routine plant walkdowns and first-line maintenance to optimise plant performance.
• Work as an Authorised Person under the plant safety rules.
• Maintain accurate operational records and reports.
• Support the development and implementation of operational procedures.
• Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

We are looking for someone with the following:

• A recognised craft qualification in an engineering discipline OR a minimum of three years' experience in process plant operations.
• Experience in power station operations or a similar heavy process environment such as chemical, refinery, defence, etc.

The Operations Technician role would suit someone who:

• Has strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Can work flexibly to meet operational requirements.
• Has good IT skills.
• Is able to work a shift pattern.
