The Court of Protection (COP) team is expanding, and we are looking for an experienced and dedicated Court of Protection Paralegal to join us. If you have a passion for supporting vulnerable individuals and have at least 12 months of COP experience, we would love to hear from you.Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior solicitors in managing a range of Court of Protection matters, including deputyship applications, lasting powers of attorney (LPAs), and issues relating to property and financial affairs.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare documentation for court proceedings.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including court forms, statements, and correspondence.
  • Liaise with clients, professionals, and third parties, providing support in a compassionate and empathetic manner.
  • Maintain case files, ensuring all relevant information is up to date and accurately recorded.
  • Prepare evidence and manage the disclosure process for court hearings.
  • Assist with compliance and reporting requirements under the Mental Capacity Act.
  • Provide general administrative support as required by the COP team.

Requirements:

  • At least 12 months' experience working within the Court of Protection (COP) field.
  • Strong understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and relevant COP procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in document preparation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a busy legal environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in using legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A proactive, team-oriented attitude with a commitment to providing high-quality support.

Desirable:

  • Legal qualifications (e.g., LPC, law degree) or relevant certifications.
  • Experience working in a Legal 500 or similar high-profile law firm environment.
