Head of Credit Risk

Greater Manchester (5 days in the office)

£100K-£130K

As a Head of Credit Risk, you will be responsible for the second line management of credit risk for the business. You will have 3 direct reports and own and lead the development of credit risk policies and related standards as well as provide oversight and assurance to the Executive and Board that credit risk is being managed within risk appetite. 

You will also develop and provide data and reporting to support insight across the Risk Function and be the expert on scorecard modelling and automation.

As a Head of Credit Risk, we are looking for someone to:

  • Oversee, challenge and assure the first line credit risk management and reporting for credit risk across all products
  • Own and develop credit risk policies and related standards for all group lending products, ensuring appropriate governance of changes and evidence of key controls
  • Produce credit risk profiles for Exec and Board risk committees, working with first line to ensure all material credit risks have been identified and mitigation actions have been defined and progressed
  • Use your knowledge of the industry and the macroeconomic environment to identify emerging credit risks for the business and develop forecasting models.
  • Set, via the Board, credit risk appetites; identifying and managing portfolio level credit risks, key exposures and concentration risks.  

Key Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of risk management principles across the credit lifecycle, credit analysis and policies
  • Experience of implementing, scoring and advanced data and analytical techniques throughout the customer journey
  • Experience of implementing scoring and advanced data and analytical techniques throughout the customer journey
  • Experience of secured lending, particularly specialist mortgage lending
  • Experience of managing and developing high performance teams
  • Confidential and influential communicator to Board Level
