Role Overview:

The Head of Private Client will lead and expand the Private Client department, encompassing areas such as Wills, Probate, Trusts, Estate Administration, Court of Protection (including applications), Deputyship management, IHT and Asset Protection Advice, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Administration of Compensation trusts . The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of client service delivery, team management, business development, and ensuring compliance with relevant rules and regulations. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Private Client department, ensuring we deliver exceptional service to our clients while driving growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and manage the Private Client department, setting strategic goals and driving performance.
  • Mentor, supervise, and support team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the efficient operation of the department.

Client Service Delivery:

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on Wills, Probate, Trusts, Estate Administration, and Court of Protection matters.
  • Handle a caseload of complex and high-value cases, ensuring high standards of service and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor.

Business Development:

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for business growth and client acquisition.
  • Develop and execute marketing and networking strategies to raise the department's profile.
  • Foster relationships with referral sources, such as financial advisors, accountants, and other legal professionals.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure the department adheres to all legal, regulatory, and professional standards.
  • Implement and monitor department procedures, managing risk effectively.
  • Stay abreast of changes in legislation and best practices, updating team knowledge and practices accordingly.

Technology and Innovation:

  • Champion the use of technology within the department to enhance efficiency and client service.
  • Ensure the team is proficient with relevant legal software and case management systems.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve service delivery and operational processes.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education and Experience:
  • Qualified Solicitor with extensive experience in Private Client law.
  • Proven track record in managing a team and leading a department.
  • Significant experience in Wills, Probate, Trusts, Estate Administration, and Court of Protection work.
  • Candidate to have completed STEP diploma or is working towards that qualification.
