Data Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and manage scalable data pipelines and ETL processes in Azure.
  • Maintain and optimise cloud-based data architecture, ensuring high performance and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to understand data needs and provide solutions.
  • Work with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, and related Azure services.
  • Implement and maintain best practices for data governance, security, and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot, monitor, and resolve issues in data processing systems.
  • Continuously assess and improve data infrastructure and processing workflows.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Azure and cloud technologies, and help drive innovation within the team.

Data Engineer skills:

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer, with strong expertise in Microsoft Azure technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, or similar tools.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases and data warehouses.
  • Solid understanding of ETL processes, data modeling, and data pipeline development.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of data security best practices and governance frameworks.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with various teams.
  • Previous experience in the insurance or financial services industry is a plus, but not essential.
