Job Specification: Mechanical Design Engineer (Contract)
Contract Duration: 6 months
Rate: 40-50 per hour (Outside IR35)
Location: Manchester (3 days on-site per week)

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for a 6-month contract to work on cutting-edge projects within the space and defence sectors. The role will involve designing complex mechanical systems, including electronics packaging, from concept through to delivery, ensuring robust solutions for high-performance applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver mechanical designs for space and defence projects, with a focus on electronics packaging.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design integration.
- Perform engineering calculations and simulations (e.g. FEA, CFD) to validate designs.
- Produce detailed 3D models, drawings, and documentation.
- Provide input into project planning, cost estimation, and timelines.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in mechanical design, ideally within the space or defence sectors.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and Vault.
- Strong understanding of electronics packaging, engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with FEA/CFD analysis tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
