Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team at a school that is committed to providing exceptional care and support to children in need.

Location: Onsite SEND Class, primary school in Clayton - ManchesterPosition Type: Full-Time, Term-Time OnlySalary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support to children with SEND in a dedicated SEND room.
  • Assist with the children's daily activities, ensuring they can access their curriculum in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Support non-verbal children and those with additional needs, including communication difficulties and sensory sensitivities.
  • Ensure the safety of the children by actively monitoring their actions, including preventing behaviours such as putting objects in their mouths, running around, or climbing on furniture.
  • Assist with personal care and ensure children's well-being throughout the school day.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to create and implement effective strategies to meet the individual needs of the children.
  • Foster a positive and engaging environment that encourages learning and social development.

Key Qualities & Skills:

  • Experience in supporting children with SEND, particularly those with complex needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
  • Ability to remain calm and proactive in high-energy or challenging situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to support children with a variety of complex needs.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
