Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team and provide specialised support to a child with autism. The ideal candidate will be passionate about making a positive difference in the life of a child with autism, possessing the ability to engage and inspire them in their learning journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to a child with autism, assisting them with academic activities, social interactions, and emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate closely with the classroom teacher and other support staff to develop and implement individualised learning plans tailored to the child's needs.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where the child feels safe, valued, and motivated to learn.
  • Utilise effective communication strategies to facilitate positive interactions and build rapport with the child.
  • Implement behavioural interventions and techniques to promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Monitor and document the child's progress, identifying areas for growth and development.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children with autism or special needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders and familiarity with evidence-based interventions and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with diverse learning needs.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to the individual needs and learning styles of the child.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, special education, psychology, or related fields are preferred.
