A large, welcoming primary school in Wythenshawe is looking for a teaching assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 5 pupil with SEMH needs. This child has faced difficult experiences and needs a teaching assistant who is consistent, reliable, and able to build a trusting relationship.
The Role: Teaching Assistant - 1:1 SEMH Support
This teaching assistant role is full-time and long-term, providing essential emotional and academic support to a pupil who needs a stable, encouraging presence in their school life. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to help the child feel settled, supported, and engaged in their learning.
Key Responsibilities for the Teaching Assistant:
- Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil
- Provide emotional support and encouragement throughout the school day
- Support the child with their learning and engagement in class
- Implement strategies to help manage emotional barriers and anxieties
