Blueprint Recruitment are looking to speak with Data Centre Discipline Leads who are interested in joining a reputable engineering company on a long-term contract basis. The successful candidate will take a senior leadership role in the design and delivery of electrical systems for a variety of mission critical data centre projects. The role requires a seasoned electrical design engineer with a strong background in mission-critical facilities, who can lead project teams, ensure the highest technical standards, and take a hands-on approach to design when needed. This is a hybrid opportunity, with a preference for candidates to operate flexibly from the Manchester or Birmingham offices, though remote working may be considered for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical design for data centre projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Manage and drive project teams to deliver on time, on budget, and to exceptional quality standards.
  • Provide hands-on design support, including creating detailed calculations, layouts, and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical development and innovation.
  • Identify and implement sustainable and efficient solutions tailored to data centre requirements.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including proposals and client presentations.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in electrical design for data centre or mission-critical projects.
  • Proven leadership in managing teams and successfully delivering complex projects.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Membership in a professional body such as IET is desirable.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, UPS, and backup systems specific to data centres.
  • Proficient in design tools and software relevant to electrical building services.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead teams and liaise with clients.
  • A proactive mindset, with a focus on driving innovative and sustainable project solutions.
