Role Overview: As a Junior Electrical Design Engineer, you will support the design and delivery of electrical systems for building services projects. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will gain hands-on experience in designing electrical systems that are energy-efficient, cost-effective, and compliant with the latest industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and specification of electrical systems for various building services projects, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, and security systems.
  • Prepare electrical schematics, layouts, and detailed technical drawings using AutoCAD and other design tools.
  • Support senior engineers in carrying out calculations for electrical load, voltage drop, and circuit protection.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to assess existing conditions and assist with project implementation.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations and standards, including the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
  • Collaborate with project teams, including architects, mechanical engineers, and contractors, to deliver integrated building systems.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical documentation, reports, and project proposals.
  • Keep up to date with emerging technologies, standards, and trends in building services engineering.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent qualification).
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and building services design.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical codes and regulations (e.g., IET Wiring Regulations, British Standards).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work under supervision and take initiative when required.
  • A keen interest in sustainable building practices and energy-efficient design.
  • Previous internship or placement experience in electrical design engineering (desirable, but not essential).
