About the Company:

Our client is a well-established manufacturing company based in Audenshaw, specialising in high-quality production processes. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Time-Served Electrical Engineer with mechanical skills to join our night shift team. This is a hands-on role, ideal for a proactive and experienced engineer who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Role Overview:

The role is 60% electrical and 40% mechanical, focusing on reactive maintenance and breakdown repairs to minimise downtime. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing faults, repairing equipment, and ensuring production machinery operates efficiently. Initially, you will work day shifts during training before transitioning to nights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reactive Maintenance: Respond quickly and effectively to machine breakdowns, diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs.
  • Electrical Work: Read and interpret wiring diagrams, troubleshoot electrical systems, and repair control panels, motors, sensors, and PLCs.
  • Mechanical Work: Support with mechanical breakdowns, including bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
  • Planned Maintenance: Conduct preventative maintenance tasks to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
  • Installation & Upgrades: Assist with installing new machinery and modifying existing systems.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations and site procedures.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate maintenance logs and report recurring issues.

Requirements:

  • Time-served Electrical Engineer (NVQ Level 3, HNC, HND, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in reactive maintenance and breakdown repairs within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical schematics.
  • Strong fault-finding skills in both electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience working with PLCs, motors, control panels, and automated machinery.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, including conveyors, gearboxes, and pneumatics.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Experience in the stone industry is highly advantageous.
  • Willing to work day shifts during the training period before moving to nights.
