Our client has a requirement for an Electrical Engineer, to work on a contract basis in Manchester, supporting key projects within the water industry.

Role Purpose:

To provide robust electrical design solutions for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout all phases of delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver detailed electrical design outputs that meet project safety, quality, and performance requirements
  • Produce design calculations, drawings, and documentation for water and wastewater treatment works
  • Mentor and support CAD technicians, graduates, and junior designers
  • Oversee and review the work of subcontracted M&E design teams
  • Collaborate with equipment suppliers and manufacturers for specification and integration
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design investigation documents
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant technical, professional, and internal standards
  • Track, manage, and document design changes within project scope
  • Provide accurate estimates for design effort and resource planning
  • Attend and contribute to client meetings, design reviews, and presentations

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 10 years’ electrical design experience within the UK water industry
  • Demonstrated hydraulic design capability
  • Background in electrical and/or control systems engineering
  • Experience with both clean water and wastewater infrastructure
  • Solid understanding of engineering drawings, standards, and multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Awareness of construction techniques, materials, and site considerations

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership (with relevant professional registration)
  • Proficient in relevant engineering software and IT systems
  • Strong technical knowledge in electrical systems; control systems experience is advantageous
  • Effective communicator with a proactive, solution driven mindset
  • Committed to continuous professional development and mentoring others
  • Results-focused with strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
