The Senior Electrical Engineer will join a multi-disciplinary team working on key energy projects aimed at supporting the UK's Net Zero initiatives.

This role involves providing electrical discipline technical input for projects and proposals, including the preparation, checking, and approval of engineering documentation. The engineer will ensure compliance with all national and international codes of practice, legislation, and company/client standards.

Responsibilities include preparing equipment and materials requisitions for various electrical systems, preparing installation scopes of work, and reviewing supplier quotations to prepare technical bid assessments. The role will also involve performing cable, lighting, and lightning calculations, managing electrical equipment ageing and obsolescence, and supporting site teams with operational issues. The engineer will work closely with the engineering team in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Skills:

  • Electrical engineering expertise
  • Experience with HV and LV switchboards
  • Knowledge of UPS systems and power factor correction
  • Competence in trace-heating and lighting systems
  • Ability to conduct cable, lighting, and lightning calculations
  • Understanding of electrical equipment obsolescence management
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Familiarity with technical bid assessments

Certifications & Standards:

  1. Chartered Engineer status or equivalent
  2. Familiarity with IEC standards
  3. Knowledge of UK legislation and standards
  4. Compliance with ATEX, PED, and EMC regulations
