Field Electrical Labourer

Permanent - 39 hours per week plus overtime

Based in Manchester

Our client is looking for a Field Electrical Labourer to join their large, team-oriented department which supports customers in their homes and commercial buildings.  This is a field-based role, and you will be provided with a van depending on location.  We are looking for 1 person in Manchester.

This role has an electrical slant so previous electrical experience is essential as you will be installing and commissioning hire equipment for customers in residential homes and commercial buildings (such as high end apartments, offices, supermarkets, cinema, churches, anything commercial).  You will work a 39-hour week and can work at an overtime rate over 39 hours.  You may be required to work away, and you will need to assure that you have a driveway or somewhere visible to park the van if kept overnight.  Full training will be given for the role which will see you develop great technical skills in the field of restoration and repair.  The company is hugely invested in personal training and career development.  

Role responsibilities will include: 

  • Effectively deliver, install and commission hire equipment at customers' premises or remote sites
  • Carry out repairs where necessary
  • Attend sites and monitor equipment, ensuring all is in working order
  • Ensure company and quality procedures are adhered to, ensuring own and others health and safety
  • Effectively manage equipment logistics and day to day running of all nominated projects
  • Maintain effective, regular customer contact, sharing information with all parties
  • Prepare equipment for use and ensure instruments used are within calibration timescales
  • Reviewing and making recommendations for new methods and techniques of installation
  • Effective supervision of equipment/ancillary stock levels in the local depot
  • Provide cross area/region support to meet changing business needs
  • Take part in out of hours call out rota, for breakdowns and emergencies
  • Actively participate in learning and development to continually improve

To be suitable for this role, you will:

  • Desire to learn and develop electrical experience - if you have working knowledge of HVAC, basic machinery control circuits and components, voltage and current measurement, this will be an advantage. 
  • Desirable - NVQ level 3 Electrical Installation
  • Desirable - HNC Mechatronics
  • Holder of current forklift licence desirable but not essential
  • Come from a labouring, construction or technician background, willing to do physical work which can require heavy lifting
  • Have good manual dexterity
  • Have a good understanding of computer packages, good verbal communication skills and good organisation/administration abilities
  • Have the willingness to travel across the region and stay away from home as required
