The Project

As an Approved Electrician, you will focus primarily on hands-on electrical work and testing across various commercial projects valued between 500k - 5m based in Manchester. Your responsibilities will include installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, wiring, and equipment to ensure safety and functionality. Additionally, you will perform inspections and testing, such as Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Requirements

For this role it is essential that you carry the following professional qualifications as a minimum;

  • Relevant Qualification as an Approved Electrician
  • City & Guilds 18th Edition
  • CSCS / ECS / JIB

It is also essential that you hold the experience below;

  • Previous 2391 Test and Inspections Experience
  • Proven industry expertise with a track record of successfully working on electrical packages on various projects in excess of 500k
  • Extensive background within the industry with experience of working in a similar position for a skilled contractor or subcontractor

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Thorough comprehension of electrical engineering principles and practices
  • A proficient understanding of construction materials, methods, and techniques
  • Solid understanding of local and national electrical codes, regulations (e.g., BS 7671 in the UK)
  • Knowledgeable of electrical systems, wiring, and components, along with expertise in troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance

Duties

  • Repairing faults promptly to minimize disruption
  • Perform risk assessments, maintaining a safe work place
  • Identify electrical faults utilising suitable testing tools and methods
  • Keeping up-to-date with changes in legislation and codes of practice
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues efficiently to minimise downtime
  • Implement and adhere to health and safety protocols to minimize risks
  • Interpreting technical drawings and specifications to complete tasks accurately
  • Oversee all work complies with relevant standards and local regulations in the UK
  • Completing testing reports, such as Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs)
  • Conduct tests and inspections, ensuring the safety and functionality of electrical systems
  • Offer guidance and support to less experienced team members through training and mentorship
  • Conducting electrical testing and inspections to verify compliance with safety standards and regulations
  • Assisting with advanced electrical equipment, including energy-efficient and renewable energy systems where required
  • Produce documentation for electrical work including electrical installation certificates (EIC) and periodic inspection reports
  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, wiring, and equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial settings
  • Testing and certifying systems for energy efficiency, as well as implementing renewable energy solutions such as solar panel systems
