Instrument Controls Engineer  About the Role

A global leader in the chemical manufacturing sector is seeking an experienced Instrument Controls Engineer to join its team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, ensuring the reliability and optimisation of control systems at a highly specialised production site.

As an Instrument Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, operation, and maintenance of control systems, contributing to equipment upgrades, capacity expansions, and process improvements. You’ll also play a key role in troubleshooting, system analysis, and implementing advanced controls to enhance efficiency and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in safety programs, promoting adherence to regulations and best practices.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and testing of control system modifications.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to Operations and field technicians.
  • Conduct system analysis, improvement studies, and front-end design work, collaborating with contractors and consultants.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimise control system implementations, including operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Monitor and identify underperforming instruments impacting control loop performance.
  • Implement advanced control solutions to help optimise plant processes and meet production targets.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Engineering.
  • Proven experience in the maintenance of control systems within a production environment.
  • Familiarity with Siemens PCS7 DCS (highly preferred).
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills, with a results-driven mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
