People Services Advisor (Temporary Position)

35 hours per week, flexible working

Hybrid - 1 day per week in the Manchester City Centre office

Are you a proactive and dedicated HR professional looking to make a meaningful impact within an organisation? We are seeking a People Services Advisor to join our team on a temporary basis. This role is integral in delivering high-quality HR services and supporting a wide range of people-related activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice to managers and colleagues on a variety of HR matters including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, and performance improvement, ensuring compliance with best practises and employment law.
  • Manage a busy caseload of staffing matters efficiently.
  • Understand and apply safeguarding policies and processes to protect vulnerable individuals.
  • Maintain accurate HR administration in line with service level agreements, ensuring all HR processes are delivered on time.
  • Update HR software to keep colleague records current, processing starters, leavers, and changes to terms and conditions.
  • Draught and distribute essential HR correspondence, such as change of hours and maternity letters.
  • Support the onboarding process by preparing employment contracts and conducting right to work checks.
  • Proactively manage the people services inbox and respond to complex queries.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to meet the needs of both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with payroll and resourcing teams to ensure smooth payment processes and onboarding.
  • Build strong working relationships with managers and colleagues across the organisation.
  • Contribute to the organisation's sustainability objectives and net-zero plans.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as assigned.

Person Specification:

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience in a busy HR team, working with an ER caseload and providing first-level advice on various HR matters.
  • Strong understanding of HR best practises, equality, diversity, inclusion, and employment legislation, with the ability to apply these in your advice.
  • High level of professionalism and integrity when handling sensitive information.
  • Proven experience in delivering accurate HR administration, including updating systems and drafting employment documents.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise documentation.
  • Ability to respond to HR queries and communicate information clearly and effectively.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to build credibility with colleagues and managers.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Self-motivated with a flexible approach to work, able to manage conflicting priorities effectively.
